Radiology Search Newsletter from 02/03/2008
Top Featured function: In each newsletter we will feature a special function of RadiologySearch to become more familiar with the multiple features most users are not aware of. This time we explain the Veterinary Radiology search mode and some other related functions: Figure 1: The new search mode for Veterinary Radiology can be found in the search mode selection at the bottom. Figure 2: After entering the term you are searching for, a list of search results from peer-reviewed and Veterinary Radiology specific websites are displayed. Refinements help increasing the specificity of the search. These refinements include more specific search for diagnosis, therapy, differential diagnosis, protocols, x-ray & fluoroscopy, ultrasound, CT, MRI and animals such as birds, cats, dogs, equine, livestock, reptiles, wildlife and domestic animals. Figure 3: Automatically, a background search for available images is performed and these results are displayed in a structured way to the right of the search results. The available images are categorized into "General, X-ray, Ultrasound, CT, MRI, Nuclear Medicine, Anatomy, Surgery and Illustrations". If this is not specific enough, a link for more (Radiology- ) specific images is provided. Figure 4: Here is an example of available images in the "Quick image search" menu after searching for "Lipoma". Thumbnails of images about clinical findings, illustrations and intraoperative pictures are demonstrated. These images can be either seen in original size or the corresponding website can be visited with one click of a mouse. Figure 5: A new Veterinary Radiology journal has been added to the journal search and quick jump menu: Journal of Veterinary Radiology & Ultrasound . Figure 6: New Veterinary Radiology societies have been added to the society search menu as well as to the society quick jump menu. (Here with a quick link to the EAVDI and ECVDI )
